In today’s digital age more and more frequently clients need creative professionals who can excel in multiple disciplines.
Photographers must understand the needs of designers. Designers are called to understand the needs of social media managers. Social media managers need to work closely with influencers and videographers.
The creative world is more integrated than ever, yet the complexity of digital spaces is ever increasing.
That digital web can be hard to navigate. I bring the expertise and understanding to help navigate it. My goal is to be a multidisciplinary creative professional that can visually elevate stories.
I have had the pleasure of using my creative talent across non-profit and for-profit industries, in both the outdoor and environmental spaces. I work as a social media manager, photographer and graphic designer. In each of these three disciplines I create clean, thought out, and aesthetic visuals to achieve the goals of my clients.
My Work
I work for Western Resource Advocates as one of their digital experts where I collaborate with a nine-person comms team to build well thought out integrated social media strategies. Through WRA I leverage my expertise to elevate a larger social media strategy. This includes everything from managing influencer campaigns, to working together with large environmental coalitions to help achieve larger policy goals. I develop, create, and deliver content
With WRA I host and produce a podcast called Two Degrees out west were we explore climate issues in the West, And what we can do on a regional scale to address climate change in its impacts.
I worked for the iconic professional free skier Cody Townsend on the industry defining FIFTY project. I managed Cody’s social media for the project, finding behind the scenes footage to wrap into a larger social media plan that meets sponsor needs and achieves the larger goals of The FIFTY. A strategy grounded in analytics and executed via storytelling and community management led to over 130% growth in year one.
As a graphic designer I’ve designed ski movie posters, logos, stickers, and other collateral for various organizations around the ski industry.
I’ve worked in house for a public library and as a freelancer for various for-profit companies. I’ve rebranded non-profits and helped build out detailed digital strategy and social media marketing plans.
Photography
When I’m not fighting the climate crisis or running Cody Townsend’s social media I’m shooting events and action. This includes adventure lifestyle photography for both pro and amateur athletes, as well as portraits and events.
I’ve worked as an event photographer shooting summer camps, races, headshots, and corporate gatherings. My photography is informed by a photojournalistic upbringing; I learned to shoot as a storyteller over a “snap-shooter”. I work to capture not one good image, but a set of images that together can tell the broader unique story of an event, person, or place.
I leverage an expertise of photo equipment and technique to deliver unique, professional, and captivating scenes for my clients.
In The Wild
Of course, I get outside as well. I’ve been privileged to spend a lot of my professional career working in the outdoor industry.
In the summer and fall when I am not behind a screen, you’ll find me on the river and biking the trails around Buena Vista. In the winter and spring you’ll find me up skiing the high peaks of the Sawatch and Gore Ranges.
I took the name of my studio from this seasonal approach to connecting with the mountains – “Cutts” for the native cutthroat trout in Colorado’s high lakes and “Couloirs” for the steep snow filled gullies I enjoy skiing in the spring.
